Kataldhara revisited on Sunday 23/08/2010
Location --> Ullas vally near Lonavala
Organizer --> FONA (Friends Of Nature Assosiation - Talegaon)
Trek leader --> Mandar Tharval
Distance from Lonavala --> ~7 Kilometers, ahead of Kune Gaon & on the way to Rajmachi
Identification to get down to vally --> see photo at end of post, two mango trees are the only mark available, u must get down from that location, there is no other way.
mobile range available --> BSNL, IDEA & Vodaphone mobile range is available in this Vally, so better to have one of this sim card with u s as 2 use in case of emergency
Precautions -->
1) this is semi-hard trek, u must have proper trekking gears for this trek
2) Odomas or any other mosquito repellent is necessary
3) Full sleeves shirt & proper full pant is must
4) at the last patch where u get down to the water fall, rope is required due to difficult rock patch
5) Markings on the way by keeping three stones one above another is done by FONA team, carefully follow them, due to density of forest there r chances to loose track easily
6) do not take undue risks in the waterfall, the water falling down gets doubled in minutes as per the rain fall rate .. so risky
Here is the refreshing snap shot of Kataldhara ... the one of the remaining untamed nature of Maharashtra ... clean ... fresh .. untouched from PLASTIC BOTTLES & GARBAGE !!!!
& so i always like this spot & pray to god to keep this place as beautiful & untouched from the ...
Inside the caves ... were we took our luxurious LUNCH ... it was not so shivering :-) ... after POWERFULLLLL Chilled water Bath ... we were hardly able to have our lunch without shivering !!! u can hear roar of water falling over the cave ... when u enter inside the cave .. a AUTO-BATH features at the cave entrance is always in enabled mode !!! the mist inside the cave ... the water roar .... nothing to express in words but u must take a feel of it ... no words !! that's the beauty of nature indeed :-)
a collage of beauties u see on the way ... crabs, snails, Karvi (flower that blooms after every 7 years - i was fortunate to see the same in my trek to Kalavantin Durg :-) beautiful flowers & butterflies .. so much to see ... & on the way you have so many streams ...
Entry point to the KatalDhara is this point on the way to Rajmachi .. where twin Mango trees are there .. this is the only point u must remember .. else there are 99% chances that u will not be able to get to this place .. this is very very tricky place since many trekkers has lost in the valley of Kataldhara ..so make sure that u get the right directions ....
